PrEP stands for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis. PrEP has been shown in many studies to be safe, and when taken correctly, highly effective at preventing HIV.

See our Price List for information about the cost of our PreP service. The initial consultation includes blood tests, screening for sexually transmitted infections and a discussion on whether PrEP is suitable for you.

If you have been prescribed PrEP, the medication can be dispensed through community pharmacies. You will need a drug payment scheme (DPS), medical card or long term illness card to access PrEP free of charge through the HSE.
